I Almost Burned Out. So I Went to the Jungle.

I just got back from a kundalini retreat in Vieques, Puerto Rico. And wow.

I almost didn’t go.

As a first-time solo founder, I’ve been feeling the edges of real burnout. The kind I never understood before. Even in my past life as a creative director at big ad agencies, it never felt like this. This is different.

Now everything is riding on me.
My savings. My time. My energy. My fear of failure.

There’s no corporate cushion. No team to hide behind. Just vision and responsibility.

I needed a break. And kundalini yoga is my thing. I fell in love with it around 2019 and haven’t looked back. It’s brought me some of my dearest friendships. It’s awakened parts of me I didn’t even know were asleep.

So back to the trip.

I almost didn’t take the time off. But something in me knew. I booked it anyway. I kept checking in with my higher self asking, “Am I running away from my to-do list, or am I recalibrating and charging up?”

It was the latter. And I’m so glad I listened.

Four nights was perfect. Sleeping to jungle sounds. Living simply. Not cooking. Not cleaning. No logistics. Just existing in a little nature bubble. Meditating morning and night. Waking up for 4am sadhana (things I only do on Kundalini Yoga retreats.)
Living in sacred containers like this.

And enjoying being led. Brain off.

It cleared my mind.
It energized my system.
It reminded me who I am outside of my inbox.

And being surrounded by inspiring women who have built their own businesses? That was the cherry on top.

Take the Break. Intentionally.

If there’s one thing I’m attempting to say here, it’s this.

Take the break.

An intentional break will move you further down your path, not away from it. I was scared to step away. Scared momentum would disappear. Scared something would fall apart.

Nothing did.

I’m back. Clearer. Stronger. More aligned. Just now getting into my groove again.

Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is pause.

The Snack Bar Reality Check

Here’s what really surprised me.

I realized how many smart, conscious, healthy women are still confused by convenient packaged snacks.

Women who meditate. Who journal. Who invest in organic produce. Who are building soulful businesses.

And yet the bars packed in their bags?

Filled with fake sugars. Fake flavors. Fillers. “Natural flavors” that aren’t natural at all.

Apparently I’m part of a very small group who flips the bar over and reads every single ingredient. Not just the macros. Not just the front-of-package marketing claims. The actual ingredients.

“Brain bars.”
“Superfood bars.”
“Protein power.”

The front of the package sells a dream.
The back tells a different story.

Half good. Half questionable.

And to me, half good is 100% not good enough.
